What’s Intent Data?

Intent Data is a powerful new feature inside Outreachly that helps you identify people and businesses searching for solutions like yours. Combining trusted third-party data with our proprietary technology, Outreachly detects real-time online behaviors that signal genuine buying intent. This means you can zero in on high-converting leads, saving time, energy, and budget.

Combining anonymized, privacy-safe insights from across the web with behavioral signals, Outreachly lets you cut through the noise and zero in on in-market prospects. The result? Highly personalized campaigns that land at precisely the right time, turning overlooked interest into booked meetings and faster deals.

How It Works

Outreachly continuously monitors online behavior signals - what people are searching for, reading, posting, and even which tools they’re using - to identify who’s actively in the market. These insights are refreshed daily, and you’ll only see leads from the past seven days, so your outreach is always timely and relevant.

How to Set Up an Intent Data Search

Step 1: Create a campaign and click "Add Search"


Step 2: From the left menu, choose Intent Data


Step 3: Choose Your Target Topics

Select the topics your ideal customers are actively exploring. Use the search bar to find relevant topics or browse the full list quickly.

You can select up to 30 topics, but we recommend starting with 1–2 highly focused topics for best results. This allows your outreach copy to speak directly to what your prospects care about—boosting engagement and response rates.

Once you've selected, click "Next" to move to the next step.

Step 4: Filter Your Results

You can use filters to narrow your results and find your best-fit leads.

If it’s your first time using this feature, we recommend starting simple. Too many topics can broaden your audience, while over-filtering might limit your results more than you'd like.

🚨 Heads-up: Intent Data is available only for prospecting within the USA.


Step 5: Review your settings before you launch your search.

Double-check that everything looks good. You can give your search a title—totally optional, but helpful if you're planning to run multiple searches.

Need to remove a filter? Just click the “x” next to any topic or filter you want to drop.

Set the number of contacts you'd like to include, up to 2,000 per Intent Data search.

If you want to go back a step and add some other criteria, click on the name of the section at the top or press "Back" at the bottom of the page.


Step 6: Ready to go? Select "Save" to add your search to the campaign

You can view your search details anytime once your campaign is saved or launched. Head to the campaign’s edit menu, click the three-dot icon next to the search, then hit Edit to see the complete overview.

‼️ Important: After saving or launching your campaign, searches become locked for editing. But don’t worry - you can always rerun the same search or create a new one.




Still fine-tuning? Before saving your campaign, you can edit a search anytime from the same three-dot menu.

Helpful Tips for Smarter Prospecting

  • Planning to connect via social? Use the filter to target prospects with 250+ connections—they’re typically more active and responsive.

  • Didn’t get thousands of prospects right away? No stress—your search will automatically refresh every few days, pulling in new contacts that match your criteria.

  • Use your enrichment credits to unlock more contact options like verified emails and phone numbers. With Outreachly, you can plug these into a multi-step campaign, reaching the right people across multiple channels while keeping your CRM fresh.

  • Test different filters to zero in on the prospects you win with most. Just note: if we don’t have data on a particular filter, that prospect won’t appear in the search. Familiarizing yourself with your filters will help you laser-focus your campaigns and tailor your messaging more effectively.

  • Already connected with someone? When the campaign runs, check for any prospects marked as “Connected.” These are your first-degree connections. Want to remove them? Just:

    • Click the Connected tag in your campaign

    • Select the prospects

    • Hit Action at the top of the screen

    • Choose Remove from campaign

That way, you avoid contacting contacts you're already connected with.
