InMails can only be sent to prospects you are not connected with on LinkedIn. This means you cannot send an InMail to 1st-degree connections. Therefore, when setting up campaigns in Outreachly, it’s useful to know how and where to add InMails.

Here’s how to incorporate InMail based on different campaign types:

InMails in Simple Campaigns

In a Simple Campaign, InMails must be placed before the connection request step. Simple Campaigns lack conditions to check if a prospect is connected. Adding an InMail after a connection request could result in delivery issues, as InMails cannot be sent to 1st-degree connections or pending requests. Outreachly won't allow you to save a Simple Campaign if the InMail is after the connection message and will show an error message.

Example Sequence:

  1. InMail Step: Initiate contact with an InMail.

  2. Connection Request: Send a connection request after the InMail has been sent.

InMails in Smart Campaigns

Smart Campaigns allow for more flexibility by using conditional logic. With the "If Connected" condition, you can check whether a prospect has accepted your connection request before sending an InMail. This ensures that InMails are only sent to prospects without connection.

Example Sequence:

  1. Connection Request: Start by sending a connection request.

  2. If Connected Condition:

    • If Connected: Send a follow-up message.

    • If Not Connected: Send an InMail.

🚀 Success! You can now add InMail correctly to different campaign types
